Mirror Adore

Wishes and prayers do not cure
I've tried them in secret to keep this pure
My black star failing,
Dear mirror adore,
Show me perfection never more.

I woke from a nightmare in the lowest of light,
In waking no comfort, in seeing no sight.
To break the silence, it wasn't your face
In the shards of glass, held helpless in place.

With no one in control, you've no one to blame
And you can't, with closed eyes, reflect my shame
I'm lying still this night, it feels like sleep
And I won't stop you if you want to leave
But if you want to stay a while,

Run with me if you've long been afraid
Run till you're too lost to be lonely
And for a second only, I would try a sample
A dull taste, if death could be tasted

There, through the eye of the needle,
Silken threads run through my neck,
Like the blind leading the blind,
And I swear, my closest friend,
Whatever happens,
However deep the hurt,
I will always be here,
Empty, breathing dirt.

As bitter as the moth flys into the fire,
Days are becoming shorter,
Dear mirror adore.
