"Ties and Trickery"

I would set myself on fire in a dry field of wheat
Only for you to perceive my sincerity
This death I would suffer before my time and what is fare
As if to ask you to be the one who would miss me
And if you would only stay with me for the day
I might say I would happily spend a lifetime in Hell
And that it would be a fare trade as well
-Sometimes I even wish I meant it-

And for all it's worth,
I feel nothing in the hilarious hour.
And the day before all my professions take form,
I trick you into believing them.
Who is the fool now!
Who is the lowest of the low now!
Who hungers for death but dare not eat now!

You who would have me bathe in the hilarity
And dry in the conceit of your intoxicating ways,
And gladly I do so because madness is all that is near,
And madness is all I claim,
And without saying the word,
You've said the word
Despair!
