The Silhouette of Eternity
-for a love lost

She was asphyxiating breath
and aftermath of life and death
a waning star in sky and sea
the mere silhouette of eternity

She was the latitude of light in me
the measure of movements' immensity
begot and nourished with intensity
in moments lasting forever undone
in the silhouette of love

Lust for her was always relieved
in the nets that caught our perpetual being
faith is only kept when doubt is deceived
with the stroke so subtle it could hardly be

She was a mind of a mere fascination
formed in the storms of heavenly creation
The angels' oversight has fallen from us now
at the end of this play, remember to bow

And there is a place that still exists within
where, to, you and I had never been
She can swim through the opening of skies
She can do whatever catches her eyes
This dark silhouette no longer lies

I asked her to tell me all she had before feigned
that we might both share the blame
When she entered my soul
She burned in the flames
And I burned in her flames
I prayed that our love would somehow remain
At least for a time
This dark silhouette was mine

I asked her for her faith
but she never could see
Just how to get closer to god
or how to view eternity
Bring me closer to the shadow
I'm at the end of me

the fortune teller told me I was ought to wait
to bide my time and make exact designs
till the world would offer my fate
and yield to me this silver plate

And in the while, I'm to search for your kind
never denying the truth its precarious pursuits
and wonder if every time I chance to find
the tables of kings, if I'm to dine

I lift my eyes up from you
I never meant for it to end this way
Never meant or love to die
yet here we stand as divided friends
defeated by arrogance, ignorance, and pride
and I wonder what ever held me together
Now I see that I was naïve
To think this love would last forever

If the fortune teller lied to me, in whatever need
it will no longer be her word which I will heed
she should have told my coming was late
that Heaven had just only locked its gate

falls upon midnight, and we are seduced
and our love is utterly reduced

Love is devotion to the other forever
once set in motion, there's no other endeavor
There is no stopping this constant lust
for no one is leaving their innate mistrust
